Accepting these terms

These terms cover your use of the Custom Duarte Concrete website and any estimate, scheduling or work you arrange with us through it. By using the site, calling us or filling out our contact form, you agree to these terms.

If you sign a written contract with us for a job, that contract controls wherever it differs from this page. If you don't agree with these terms, please don't use the site, and call us so we can talk it through.

What we do

Custom Duarte Concrete is a concrete contractor in Duarte, CA. We build and repair driveways, patios, sidewalks, steps, slabs, footings, retaining walls and other concrete work for homes and businesses in Duarte and the cities around it. You can see the full list on our home page and read more about our crew on the about page.

We are fully licensed and insured. Descriptions of our services on this site are general. The exact work on your job, including materials, thickness, finish and site prep, is whatever your written estimate or contract says.

Estimates and pricing

Our quotes are free, given on site, and you're under no obligation to accept them. We look at the job in person because the price depends on things we can only see there, like how much old concrete has to come out, the condition of the subgrade, which is the soil the slab sits on, how the water drains and how easy it is to get a truck to the pour.

An estimate is our best price based on what we can see. If we open the ground and find something we couldn't see before, like soft or wet soil, buried debris, old footings or roots, we'll stop, show you and give you a written change before doing extra work at extra cost.

Prices you may see anywhere on this site are general information, not a quote. Your price is the one in your written estimate or contract, and an estimate stays good for the time it states.

Scheduling, weather and cancellation

We'll give you a start date and an expected timeline once you accept the estimate. Concrete depends on the weather, so rain, extreme heat, high wind, supplier delays or a problem found during demolition can push the schedule, and we'll tell you as soon as we know.

Fresh concrete needs time to cure, which is the wait while it hardens and gains strength before it can take weight. We'll tell you when it's safe to walk on and drive on, and you agree to keep people, pets and vehicles off it until then, because damage from early use isn't something we can cover.

If you need to reschedule or cancel, let us know as early as you can. If we've already ordered materials, scheduled a pour or done work, you may owe for those costs as your contract describes. Any legal right you have to cancel a home improvement contract still applies.

Your part of the job

You agree to give us safe access to the work area, to tell us about anything you know is underground like sprinkler lines, private utility lines, septic or drainage pipes, and to clear the area of cars, furniture and belongings before we start.

You're responsible for getting any approval your homeowners association or property manager requires. Unless your written contract says otherwise, permit fees aren't included in the price, so ask the city where the property sits if you're unsure whether your job needs one.

Payment terms

Any deposit, progress payments and the final payment are set out in your written contract, along with the payment methods we accept. Final payment is due when the work in the contract is done, not when the concrete is fully cured.

If a payment is late, we may pause work until it's made. Unpaid balances may lead to collection costs and, where California law allows, a lien on the property.

Warranties and what concrete does naturally

Our work is backed by our satisfaction guarantee, and any written warranty on your job is the one in your signed contract. We don't make any other promise, spoken or implied, beyond what that contract says or what the law requires.

Concrete shrinks as it dries, so small hairline cracks can show up even on a well-built slab. We cut control joints, which are planned grooves that give the slab a place to crack in a straight line, but they guide cracking rather than stop it. Color, texture and stamped patterns will also vary a little from samples and from section to section, because every pour is a little different.

A warranty doesn't cover damage from things outside our control, like tree roots, ground movement, earthquakes, standing water from drainage we didn't build, deicers or harsh chemicals, heavy equipment the slab wasn't built for, or changes made by someone else.

Limits on our liability

To the extent the law allows, our total responsibility for any claim about a job is limited to the amount you paid us for that job. We aren't responsible for indirect losses like lost use of your property, lost income or other consequential damages.

Nothing on this page limits a responsibility that California law doesn't let a business limit, including for our own negligence that causes injury.
